What is this calculator for?
After your total income-tax liability has been computed, taxes already deducted or collected and taxes already paid reduce the amount that remains to be paid. This calculator performs that reconciliation in one place. It does not recalculate your taxable income or tax slabs; use the India Income Tax Calculator first if you still need to estimate the underlying liability.
How the estimate is calculated
Remaining balance = total tax liability − TDS − TCS − advance tax − other eligible tax credits/payments. A positive result is the estimated amount still payable. If entered credits exceed the liability, the tool displays the excess as a potential credit/refund position rather than treating it as tax due.
Tax Year 2026-27
The Income Tax Department states that the Income-tax Act, 2025 applies to tax payments for Tax Year 2026-27 onwards. Its official advanced calculator also asks taxpayers to account for TDS/TCS credits and self-assessment/advance-tax payments when arriving at the final tax position.
Use verified figures
Do not assume that every deduction shown on a salary slip, bank statement or broker report is automatically an available tax credit. Reconcile TDS/TCS and tax payments with the records available to you on the e-Filing system and keep supporting evidence. A mismatch can make the final return result different from this estimate.
Why interest can matter
If advance tax was insufficient or paid late, statutory interest may affect the final liability. Enter the liability after including applicable interest or use the site's advance-tax and interest calculators before using this balance tool.

Important limitation
This calculator is an educational planning tool, not tax filing software or professional advice. The Income Tax Department notes that calculator results are a quick estimate and the exact filing calculation must follow the applicable Act, Rules, forms and validations.
